I know it's a few days early but I didn't know when the next time is that I will be able to get online to update this information and I just have to let my little princess know how much I love her. I thought the best way would be to tell her the story of the day she was born.
It was Friday, March 03, 2006. I had gone into work for only half a day because I had a Dr. appointment at 10:45. I had gone to the Dr and for my weekly checkup which, anyone who has kids knows that they are the most pleasant visits ever. (NOT!!) So I go to my appointment and the Dr had told me that there would be no having a baby over the weekend. I was very sad and very ready to have this baby. I called my mom in tears telling her the bad news. We had hoped for some better news so she could try and book a flight down to St George from Salt Lake.
I took my husband back to work and then went home and decided to take a nap. I woke up after having only half hour nap, stood up, and............ my water broke. I called my husband Caleb and told him to get home because we were going to be having a baby. I called my mom and told her together butt on the road. She had a long drive to make and she had to be here because I wanted to have her in the delivery room. My mom was still in Salt Lake but she had her bags packed and in the car waiting to be able to leave in a minutes notice. Anyone who has ever been to St George knows that it can take 4 1/2+ hours drive time. My mom was white knuckle grip speeding so fast the whole way down. She was doing a whopping 80 miles an hour the whole way. :)
We got to the hospital and get checked in and I was in a waiting room The nurse comes in and Caleb was on the phone with my mom giving her an update. The nurse screams, "Oh my! You are already dilated to an 8 1/2. We need to get you to delivery and now." Caleb told my mom to slow down and just get to the hospital safely because she was going to miss the birth. My mom starts sobbing (shocker) We get into the delivery room and now I am waiting for the most wonderful person ever.... the anesthesiologist. Once I got my epidural I was in heaven.
The nurse comes in and tells me that she can't get a hold of my Dr. WHAT!! EXCUSE ME!!! He must not have been told that he was to be at my beckon call when it came time to having this baby. Luckily my Dr was easy for us to get in touch with because he is Caleb's Uncle. No it wasn't awkward because that is what he went to school for and it's not like he was my uncle. We called Caleb's grandma asked her if she knew where he was and she told us that he was at a play. We called his Aunt who had her phone on and told her that I was in labor and in the hospital.
The nurse came in to check my contractions and she told me that Hailee had fallen asleep. It was something that she had never seen before in all of her years of nursing. Quick, call mom and find out where she is. Caleb called and she was in Cedar City. Just over 30 - 45 minutes away. We told her to speed quickly Hailee had fallen asleep. She made it and 45 minutes after she got there Hailee was born.
Mom told me that she had prayed and prayed telling Hailee that she needed to wait for Nanna to get there. Hailee had fallen asleep and had taken her time for Nanna to show up. The next day Nanna went to Old Navy to do some shopping and all of the clothes she saw had turtles on them. It got her to thinking about the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. She couldn't help but call Hailee her little turtle. The name has stuck and every time we go anywhere and see a turtle we have to buy it for you.
Happy Birthday my sweet princess I love you so much and you will never know just how much you are loved. Not only by me but by everyone else in your family. You have such a sweet spirit and always bring a smile to every ones day.
These past 3 years have truly been a blessing and I am looking forward to all the joys that come with being a parent. You have taught me so much and I can't imagine my world without you.
